A Very Serious Problem
The world is rapidly shifting to affordable renewable energy, but solar and wind are intermittent. Industry, however, requires constant, reliable power and heat – up to a scorching 1600°C.
Currently, global industry – comprising the one million factories that produce all our food and goods – is still 90% powered by fossil fuels, with that share barely declining.
Manufacturing accounts for nearly a quarter of all human climate emissions and is widely regarded as the hardest sector to decarbonize. To compete with fossil fuels, any alternative clean energy source must not only be reliable but also cheaper.
To make a real difference, we can’t tinker with a few factories – we need to transform all of them, and quickly. This demands unprecedented scalability, requiring energy storage solutions volumetrically two orders of magnitude beyond existing systems.
Our Solution
At Huma, we’ve already been working to solve this conundrum for 15 years. We realized that the humble refractory brick – invented 10,000 years ago and today produced in millions of tons annually by thousands of existing “gigafactories” worldwide – can potentially store and deliver solar and wind energy 24/7/365.
The Tricky Bit
The challenge remained: how to efficiently get energy into and out of the bricks. We solved this problem in an elegant and entirely novel way – more on that at a later date.
It’s Like LEGO for Storage
The Huma I-O battery consists of a family of modular units that can meet the thermal demands of any size commercial and industrial (C&I) energy consumer. Huma even makes off-grid industry possible, using 100% locally generated solar power.
We’ve partnered with a cluster of world-class technology providers to help standardize and popularize our innovative technology. Together, we are literally bricklaying (pun intended) the foundation for the Solar Age that is just beginning.

We’re in a Hurry
The devastating and accelerating effects of climate change mean we’re in a hurry. We can’t push this problem onto future generations – a solution today is worth ten times a solution in two decades.
Our goal is nothing less than to accelerate the adoption of energy storage (and thus solar as a primary energy source) by a decade. We’re humbled and excited to take on this massive challenge and are completely dependent on willing partners like you to make it happen.
Too Long; Didn't Read
These modern Vikings have discovered how to forge simple dirt into clean energy fortresses, using ancient brick-making wisdom super charged with deep scandi tech to provide smooth energy for their forges and breweries.
Now they're readying their fleet to spread their dirt-cheap solution across the world's million factories. Thor approves: “Huma is using our very Earth with the mighty sun to stop burning our front door to stay warm.”
